Acadia Insurance Contributes $3,000 to Improve Safety Training at New England Facility
Contribution helps organization expand capacity and replace obsolete technologies
WESTBROOK, Maine (Mar. 30, 2017) – Acadia Insurance, a W. R. Berkley Company®, is supporting safety training education and workforce development through its recent contribution of $3,000 to the National Safety Council of Northern New England’s (NSCNNE) Room Sponsorship program. This initiative enhances ergonomics, technology and safety capabilities within NSCNNE training rooms so education programs can be effectively administered to both National Safety Council (NSC) members and the general public.
NSCNNE has been providing training and safety conferences to an eclectic range of companies and organizations since 1970. The facility welcomes more than 3,000 visitors annually to participate in courses such as Defensive Driving, First Aid/CPR/AED, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 and 30-hour programs, the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) 8-hour Annual Refresher and a myriad of other occupational courses developed by the NSC.
“For more than a decade, Acadia has supported the National Safety Council of Northern New England’s quest to develop a safer and healthier New England,” said David C. Henderson, executive director, National Safety Council of Northern New England. “Through sponsorship and promotion of safety council events, and a provision of staff to serve on the Safety Council’s Executive Board, Acadia has been a key strategic partner of our council.”
Acadia’s donation helps increase quality of learning and knowledge retention by expanding capacity and replacing obsolete technologies in a training room at the NSCNNE facility. As part of the company’s sponsorship, this area was recently designated the “Acadia Insurance Room.”
“Acadia is committed to the promotion of a safety culture and understands the critical role proper education plays in preventing accidental injuries,” said Matt McManus, CPCU, assistant vice president of loss control, Acadia Insurance. “We are proud to support National Safety Council of Northern New England as they continually seek opportunities to improve their capabilities and provide the highest-quality training and safety conferences.”
NSCNNE has national alliance agreements with OSHA and MSHA and regularly co-hosts training and marketing events at its facility. Furthermore, training rooms are offered to community non-profit groups at no-cost.
